Technical Officer

SSAIB is the leading certification body specialising in providing certification services to the security and safety industry. Our scope of activity includes the certification of organisations supplying security systems and services, fire safety equipment and services and alarm monitoring. The company currently has a vacancy for a full-time Technical Officer working with the head office administration team. Duties will include assisting with enquiries from registered firms and supporting the processing of evidence provided by firms to close nonconformities raised by auditors (i.e. proof they have fixed errors in their work). The job will include checking technical documentation against requirements, processing paperwork, and dealing with enquiries by phone and email.

This role will suit a confident person who can work as part of a team and as an individual under their own initiative. This position has good prospects for career development for the right person.

Most technical matters relate to electronic equipment and installation work, with some electro-mechanical devices. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they can apply their technical knowledge and experience to the role.

Training will be provided as appropriate to include scheme specific requirements (e.g., installation of intruder and fire alarms) and auditing practices.

Candidates should:

- Be computer literate, and have competent keyboard and MS Office skills, etc.

- Have minimum GCSE Maths and English

- Have a scientific or technical related qualification or experience

- Have excellent telephone and communication skills

- Work with a high degree of accuracy

- Demonstrate an ability to prioritise issues

The job will be based at the SSAIB’s offices in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
