Operations Manager

Location: Head Office - Whitley Bay

SSAIB is the leading certification body specialising in providing certification services to the security and safety industry. Our scope of activity includes the certification of organisations supplying security systems and services, fire safety equipment, fire risk assessments, alarm monitoring and other services. Certification with SSAIB is a mark of excellence and, with over 2200 companies registered, both small and large, we certificate the greatest number of service providers in the sector.

The company currently has a vacancy for an Operations Manager. This is a senior role at the SSAIB.

The successful person will have overall responsibility for achieving the business objectives of SSAIB in respect of the conducting of assessments and audits in a timely manner and the management of nonconformity processing. They will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of auditing and assessment activities including the management of relevant head-office administration staff. The auditing staff mostly work from home and are based throughout the UK.

The Operations Manager will be expected to provide leadership and motivation to the staff while upholding the quality and reputation of the SSAIB and supporting our good working environment.

Experience of managing staff is essential for this role.

Other expected characteristics and experience include:

·         Familiarity with operational concepts, practices and procedures

·         Planning and organisational skills

·         Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to perform statistical analysis and decision making

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Negotiating skills

The position will be based at the SSAIB’s offices in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear but some travel within UK and Ireland with occasional overnight stays may be expected.
